Layer Marney Tower Excursion

Our Spring excursion will be to Layer Marney Tower near Tiptree in Essex on Wednesday 28 May, 2025, learning more about this extraordinary Tudor house.

After complimentary coffees/teas on arrival, we will be free to explore the beautiful formal gardens and a range of exhibitions in the morning, before reconvening for lunch in the tearoom (included in the price), housed within the Edwardian stables. In the afternoon, we will be given a full tour of the house, the tower and the church by the owners, Nick and Sheila Charrington. There will be a chance to return to the tearoom or visit the gift shop before boarding the coach for our return trip.

We will be meeting at Ram Meadow Car Park at 8:45am for a prompt 9:00am departure. We hope to return to Bury St Edmunds at approximately 6:00pm.

We are able to accommodate a maximum of 49 members. Thanks to the generous support of the Alfred Williams Charitable Trust, we are able to offer this trip to members aged 60 years or older for the discounted price of £40. For members aged under 60, the price of the excursion is £55.
